The Denyce Graves Foundation has taken a lead role in educating the public about the historic National Negro Opera Company and its remarkable founder, Mary Cardwell Dawson - all in connection with the effort underway to preserve and restore the original Pittsburgh headquarters - known as the National Opera House - now on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of its Most Endangered Historic Places in America.
